10 Powerful Tips For Using Video

Today, I’m going to give you 10 best tips for increasing views on your videos. So let’s get right to it!

1. If your video is made for YouTube, make sure that the frame in the absolute center is a powerful one. This is the frame YouTube designates as the official “thumbnail”.

2. Make sure your first 7 seconds pack the most powerful punch – you won’t have more than a second or two longer than that to convince your viewer to “stay” and view the rest of your video.

3. Welcome negative feedback. By all means, delete foul language and outright, irrelevant  illiteracy – but anything else is a wonderful chance to learn from such feedback, as well as an indicator you are doing something right. Take a tip from the artists: A painting or novel that leaves people indifferent is a failure – one that provokes a strong reaction (or any reaction at all) a huge tip that you’ve made a connection and engaged the viewer!

4. Remember that connection and keeping it real are more important than slick video production. Speaking directly to people’s emotions is what nets you fans (and sales). In video marketing, emotional connection plus real value equals ROI.

5. Always prompt viewers to click “play” on your video. Give them a written, intriguing reason as to why they should!

6. If you are hosting your videos on your own site, use a Sitemap – and keep them all in one directory with an obvious name (i.e. “videos”)! (That’s for Google’s benefit…)

7. Remember to use the keyword “video” in your tags. True – on its own, it may be too generic; but in combination with your other keywords, it has been proven to increase your video’s chances of being “found”.

8. Don’t get so caught up in creating a buzz that you forget to target the right viewers. In video marketing, number of views is important only when they result in actual sign-ups and sales!

9. Create a “series” – people love series, and what is more important – so does Google. Besides, most people would rather see 10 super-short videos on one subject than subject themselves to one long one.

And that leaves us with our final tip. It’s so important, I decided to emphasize it by separating it from the main body of tips…

10. Don’t forget to track your videos!
